The time we spend laughing everyday keeps decreasing through the years: in 1939, one would laugh for around 18 minutes a day, while in 2000, one only laughed for 6 minutes! On the other hand, our mental and physical health seems to be getting worse and worse.

What if we told you that a study demonstrated that two people that haven’t seen each other in years and finally meet again only spend 2 minutes before complaining about something? 

Each day, 60 000 thoughts cross our minds. Only 12 000 of them are positive, while 48 000 of them are negative..!

There’s no need to have a good sense of humour or an endless supply of jokes to succeed in laughter yoga, the simulated laugh quickly turns into a spontaneous laughter.

What you need to know about the basics of laughter yoga:
15 minutes of continuous laughter allow the release of endorphins.
Our body does not make a difference between real or fake laughter.
Motion creates emotion, that’s why yoga requires specific motions and positions.

Laughter yoga takes action on 3 levels:

Muscular : Laughter has relaxing effects that can be compared to gentle gymnastics.

Respiratory : Laughter enables one to have a respiratory sequence close to the one yoga produces.

Neurohormonal : Laughter increases the synthesis of endorphin hormone, that has a painkiller role and that stabilizes the mood while reducing anxiety. Laughter especially leads to the increase of serotonin, neurotransmitter that is reduces during depressions.
